Feb 14 - last challange

Good morning! Today is the lsat day of the challenge and It's Valentines Day too! My challenge for today is that my shampoo spilled in the shower and I now have none.

About Me

My name is Heather Mutch. My husband Al and I have lived in Kenora for 17 years. We have two daughters, Alanna and Shannon who are both in their 20’s and have grown up in Kenora. Our family moved here from Sioux Lookout back in 2002. I have been employed with the Keewatin Patricia District School Board since 1999 as a Principal, Vice Principal and teacher. My hobbies include camping and fishing on beautiful Lake of the Woods, volunteering with Scouts Canada, reading books and spending time with my friends and family. I have joined this challenge to raise my own awareness about the harsh reality people face when living in poverty in northwestern Ontario. I think the hardest part will be to eat fresh, nutritious food (fresh fruits and veggies) on a daily basis with a limited budget of $63.00 that must cover all my living expenses for the week. To prepare for the challenge I have done some research on meal programs I hope to access that will save me some money to be put towards other things. I have written a menu and grocery list for the week and have been looking in the flyers for food items “on sale” that can be purchased on the first day. I hope from this experience to gain first-hand experience of how difficult it is for people who are impacted by poverty to “move forward” in their lives with such limited resources. There is a group of us from KPDSB doing the challenge together. This will be an excellent learning experience for us to share and reflect on.
